Who has been the MVP of the NESCAC thus far?

As a primer for this week's poll, here is a synopsis of the case for MVP for each of the candidates on the list. The list is in alphabetical order by last name.

Keith Buehler (F, Jr) Wesleyan.
Buehler is the NESCAC's leading scorer and second in points (16-14-30) to teammate Nick Craven.  His 30 points also puts him eighth in the country. In conference games, he is the leading scorer and tied with Craven for most points (12-9-21). His signature game came in the form of a six point effort (3-3-6) that sparked Wesleyan to an OT victory over previously unbeaten Bowdoin and turned around the Cardinals season.

Natahn Corey (G, Sr.) Amherst
The senior netminder's 1.77 Goals Against Average (GAA) leads the conference and lands him at fourth in the country. His .930 save percentage is only fourth in the conference but tied for ninth in the country. Opened up the season with back to back shutouts of Hamilton and has been a pillar of consistency, giving up more than three goals only once this season in a 4-3 loss to 8th ranked Utica.

Benjamin Coulthard (G, Jr.) Trinity
Coulthard is second behind Corey in GAA in league games at 1.72 and first in save percentage at .951. His .942 save percentage in all games is good enough for second in the country. Leads the league in shutouts with three, all in NESCAC games. He had signature performances in a 44 save shutout against Amherst and a 53 save, one goal allowed performance against Middlebury.

Nick Craven (F, Sr.) Wesleyan.
The senior half of Wesleyan's two headed scoring monster leads the league in assists and points (13-18-31), which also ties him for fifth highest points in the country. Had four assists in the win at Bowdoin and is currently on a fifteen game point streak.

Sean Dougherty (G, So.) Williams
Dougherty's 1.99 GAA average is good for third in the NESCAC and 9th best in the country. His .932 save percentage puts him at third again in the 'CAC and seventh overall in the country. On top of his two shutouts, Doughtery made 39 saves in a 1-1 tie at Trinity and had 32 in a big 2-1 win against Amherst.

Ollie Koo (D/F, Jr) Bowdoin
Tied for the team lead in scoring and 4th in the conference in points (11-9-20); has been consistent, garnering points in 14 of the 16 games he has played. Koo had a hat trick against Suffolk (3-1-4) and had two goals in the tie against Middlebury.

Harry Matheson (F, Jr.) Bowdoin
Leads the NESCAC leading Polar Bears in points (11-15-26), good enough for third in the conference and 15th in the country. Matheson has a team high six power play goals and four game winning goals, including in a big 2-0 win early in the year against Williams; has only had two three point games, but has been extremely consistent, playing in all eighteen Bowdoin games and getting a point in 17 of them.

Peter Mistretta (F, So.) Williams
At 13 goals (13-6-19), Mistretta leads the second place Ephs in points and has more than double the number of goals as Williams' second leading scorer. Further, 10 of the 13 goals have come in conference games, putting him behind only Buehler in conference scoring. Misteretta has no hat tricks, but does have four two goal games, including scoring the only goals for Williams in a big 2-1 win over Amherst in December.

Derek Pimentel (F, So.) Middlebury
The Panthers leader in assists (5-10-15) entered the weekend as Middlebury's leader in points, but with only three points in his last three games he now sits third, one point behind Louis Belisle (F, Jr.)  and Matt Silcoff (F, Fr.).The Quebecois sophmore is tied for second in conference assists.

Finally, one thing we can all agree on is that this kid (Kid President) is MVP of life. Below find his pep talk, set to Sleeping at Last's "Households", in which he invokes Robert Frost, Journey, Space Jam and more.
