Scoreboard: 11/15/13

Hamilton 2
Amherst 5
Final  Box Score

1st Period:  Joe Quattrochi in net for Hamilton, Dave Cunningham for Amherst. Pat Curtis not in the lineup for the Continentals. Both sets of freshman seeing significant ice time, including 100% of Amhersts rookie skater class, Chris Roll and Austin Ho.   Amherst scores first 14:31 in with goal by Conor Brown, assists by Topher Flanagan and Brian Safstrom. Both teams have two penalty opportunities but neither team capitalizes

2nd Period: Amherst goes up 2-0 on power play goal from Brian Safstrom (assist Deutsch) at 6:03. Hamilton has their power play chances as well but the PP troubles from last year carry into this game and they end the period 0-5. Hamilton freshman Robbie Murden scores first collegiate goal at 12:45, assist by Robbie Gardiner. It is the first Hamilton goal against Amherst since January 2012 as the Lord Jeffs have blanked the Conts in the last three meetings. A good amount of chippiness after the whistles in the second.

3rd Period: Crowd gets into it with "Here we go Amherst" chant to open the period.  Amherst goes up 3-1 5:36 in when  Mike Rowbotham takes a Deutsch feed from  the point for a snipe from the left circle. As Amherst announcer mentions, Amherst wears down Hamilton with its speed and Lord Jeffs make it 4-1 9:35 in with Safstrom's second goal of the evening, from the left corner(assists to Topher Flanagan and Conor Brown).

Hamilton shows some life with first power play goal of the year  at 13:52. Sophomore Kenny Matheson weaved his way in the zone and found Mike DiMare at the far post for the stuff in. Hamilton has a quality attempt 4 minutes left when Marco Brelih takes it coast to coast and feeds Matheson in front of the net forcing a nice glove save by Cunningham.  The Conts pull the goalie on the power play with less than two minutes remaining, and Brown gets his second goal of the evening on an empty netter.

Shots in favor of Amherst 24-21. Brown and Safstrom both have two goal, three point nights (2-1-3).

Conn College     2
Trinity               5
Final Box Score

1st Period: Coulthard in net for Trinity. Senior Mike Petchnonka gets start over sophomore goaltender Tom Conlin. Camels score 0:40 seconds in on Tim DePretoro goal, asissted by JC Cangelosi. It was so quick, the Bantams video feed wasn't even up yet due to technical difficulties. Trinity outshoots Camels 11-8, but Petchnoka plays well. Could be even more, but Camel defenders do nice job of blocking shots. Perhaps a sign of the first game of the year, seven penalties in the first period (3 on Trinity, 4 on CC)

2nd Period: Trinity ties the game at 10:13 with Sam Kane goalie (assist Ben Hjalmarasson). Conn College goes back up on top less than two minutes later on a Cangelosi goal. Bantam freshman Sam Johnson  ties it back up at the end of the period on the power play, his first collegiate goal.

3rd Period: Michael Flynn gives Trinity first lead of the night 13:09 into the final period. Just 27 seconds later, his roommate, Jackson Brewer, goes five hole to put Trinity up for good 4-2. Freshman Ryan Cole gets his first collegiate goal on an empty netter and the Bantams win 5-2. Good playing time and contributions from the Bantam newcomers.

Tufts        4
Wesleyan 5
FINAL

1st Period: Wesleyan strikes first but Jumobs tie it at 1 on George Pantazopoulos goal.

2nd Period: Buehler scores early in the second to put Cards up. Tufts defenseman Blake Edwards answers in the back and forth to tie the game. James Randaccio puts the Jumbos up for the first time on the evening, but Wesleyan answers with a breakaway goal at 18:48 to knot it back up.

3rd Period: Wes scores a power play goal to go up 4-3 but Tufts ties it back up yet again. The Cards avoid OT with a goal with four seconds left.
