News and Notes: 1/21/13

NESCAC Official Weekly Release
You can find the league's official weekly release here.  Harry Matheson (F, Jr.) from Bowdoin was selected as player of the week for his three goal effort in Bowdoin's perfect two win weekend. We went with the Bowdoin goalies in our week in review, but Mattheson had a good weekend as well.

National Poll/Why polls matter
Norwich reclaimed the top spot after Wisconsin-Stout  defeated St. Norbert. Bowdoin moved up one spot to three, its highest poll position this season. Oswego moved up to four after a week that included an 8-0 rout of Hamilton.

Amherst holds strong at number ten after a light week. Williams stays put at #12, after trying #14 Babson, losing to number three Bowdoin, and defeating un-ranked Colby

Think these polls don't matter? Former Trinity/Norwich player and Williams assistant coach Peter Langella disagrees. Find out why polls matter to players, team spirit and ultimately recruiting in his article from  D3Hockey.
