Connecticut College Camels (5-8-3) 3
It was over when: Tim DiPretoro (F, Fr. ) put the puck top shelf off a lead pass from Dawson Luke (D, Sr.) for his second goal of the game, 26 seconds into the third to put the Camels on top 3-2.
The Camels had a season high in shots, outshooting Canton 46-26. Eschewing our warnings, the Kangaroos got into penalty trouble, costing them 27 penalty minutes and two Camel power play goals.
The Conn. College video feed was down, but the announcers still provided audio coverage of the game. Topics covered included the Curran families strong sports lineage as Camels, the ubiquitous nature of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" and the impressive performance by 'Roos goalie Morgan Barr (G, So).
The broadcast team selected three stars for the game: DiPretoro as first star, Barr as second and Luke as third.
Player of the game: Tim DiPretoro (F, Fr.) for his two goals to give the Camels the win.
Box Score: Canton 2/ Conn. College 3
USM/Bowdoin Recap by Benet Pols
Bowdoin College Polar Bears ( 16-1-1) 5
It was over when: Harry Matheson (F, Jr.)'s pass across the crease ended up back on his stick with the net open in front of him. The goal, Bowdoins's third, gave the Polar Bears a two goal edge just a minute after they'd taken the lead in the second. The rest of the second period was rough for USM as they gave up two more goals on scrambles, one being put in the net by a Huskie defender. Bowdoin left the second with a 5-1 lead after trailing 1-0 after the first on a goal by the Huskies' Jon Grandinetti (D, Jr.).
USM, even though outshot 36-29, put together a nice first period. It was their first loss of the season when leading after one (4-1-0). After a rough second, they came back in the third and played well. Bowdoin seemed to be looking for goals rather than the selfless play they exhibited on the road last weekend.
When tested Steve Messina (G, Jr.) played well in goal for Bowdoin, coming up big on a clean break-away in the second period.
Player of the game: Harry Matheson (F, Jr.) for his two goals and one assist (1-2-3). It won't show up in the box score but his second goal was plain ugly and could have just as easily been credited to Daniel Weiniger (F, Sr.). Weiniger was around the net a lot picking up helpers on two other goals.
