The Lowdown: Thirds the word
Wins for both the Lord Jeffs and Bantmas last night setup a showdown for outright control of third place in the NESCAC. There is also the chance the winner could move into second place if Williams loses to Conn. College. A tie and a Middlebury win at Tufts would create a three way cluster bleep in third.
The teams first met back on December 1st in a very low scoring affair (this is my shocked face) in Hartford. Trinity took the contest 1-0 on a goal by twin-star Chris Menard (F, Sr.) on an assist from the other twinstar Jeff Menard (F, Sr.). Nathan Corey had 36 saves in the loss and Benjamin Coulthard had 44 saves in one of his three shutouts on the year.
Key(s) to the game: Thirds the word
As in, third period. No one likes to enter the third trailing, but neither of these teams has won when trailing after two periods, going a combined 0-5-4. Amherst does best when leading after two (this is my shocked face again), but Trinity actually does better when tied (6-0-1) then when leading (3-2-0) heading into the final frame.
Players to watch
Chris Menard (F, Sr.) Can Menard follow up on his game winning goal back in December against the Lord Jeffs?

Johnny Van Siclen (F, Sr.) Scored twice last night but has never scored in five career games against Trinity (0-1-1). Can he in his last chance?
In honor of Trinity's Twinstars, we present the preview for the classic piece of cinema with the Monstars, "Space Jam"
