The Lowdown: Finish the weekend strong
Both teams are coming off of somewhat surprising victories last night, with the Mules taking care of Hamilton 5-1 and Amherst knocking off NESCAC leading Bowdoin 6-3. The Mules move out of the basement with the victory and now have legitimate playoff aspirations. Amherst didn't move up in the standings with their big win, but could end today as high as third in the 'CAC if they win and things fall their way.
Colby and Amherst first met back in Massachusetts on January 5th, with the Lord Jeffs taking the game 3-0 and yielding only four (yes...FOUR) shots to the Mules.
Key(s) to the game: You've got a shot
If the Mules want any shot at the upset and a chance at a playoff spot, they will need to muster more than the four shots they produced last time against the Lord Jeffs. For Amherst, they will want to keep the shot count down for their goalies after giving up 40 shots in their victory against Bowdoin.
Players to watch
Mike Moher (F, Sr.) The Lord Jeffs senior had two points last night (1-1-2) as well as two points against Colby (1-1-2) on the 5th. In five career games against the Mules the Toronto native has five points (4-1-5).
Cory McGrath (F, Sr.) The senior from Yarmouthport, MA had two points in last night's win (1-1-2). In five career games against Amherst, McGrath has one point (1-0-1).
In honor of the shot in the arm both teams received last night and the importance of the shot count, here is a compilation of some of the best trick shots from NHL players.
