Bowdoin Polar Bears (17-2-1; 10-2-1) 5

Hamilton put pressure on Bowdoin in the third period, forcing Max Fenkell (G, So.) to stop 14 shots to bring his game total to 30, but the first two periods had belonged to Bowdoin. The Polar Bears carried a 4-1 lead into the final period along with a 29-17 shots on goal advantage. Sophomore John McGinnis (F, So.) and senior Rob Toczylowski (F, Sr.) scored Bowdoin's other two goals. Each of them now has 10 goals on the season, giving the Polar Bears five skaters in double digits.
Play maker Colin Downey (F/D, Jr.)(6-11-17 in 15 games) went down hard behind the Hamilton net during a second period penalty kill after what looked liked boarding. Downey lay motionless while Referee Maxfield looked on. The Continentals took the play to the Bowdoin end where play continued 5-3. The referee kept his eye on the downed Polar Bear, perhaps looking to call embellishment or delay of game. Leaving his mouth guard on the ice, Downey eventually made it to the bench; he did not return to play for the rest of the afternoon.
Player of the game: Daniel Weiniger (F, Sr.) for his three goals.

Williams Ephs (12-5-3; 9-3-2) 0

It was over when...: The final buzzer sounded in overtime, in what the Williams announcer called "one of the most physical games all year", with no goals having been scored. The Cardinals, who scored 11 goals just a week ago against Hamilton, put up 26 shots to the Ephs 46. At the end of regulation, shots were in favor of Williams 44-19. In OT, the roles were reversed, as the Ephs were outshot 7-2 and player to watch Sean Dougherty (G, So.) had to come up big to keep the score knotted at nil.
Player of the game: Nolan Daley (G, Fr.) for his 46 saves and the first shutout of his young career.

Michael Smigelski (F, Sr.) scored just five seconds later and added his second goal of the night three minutes later to pull Colby even; shots even 4-4 in the OT period, and in favor of Colby 32-30 for the game. After only giving up one goal in the win against Hamilton, Sam Parker (G, So.) earned the start for the Mules. However, after giving up 3 goals on eight shots he was replaced by Jordan Nathan (G, So.) in the second. Nathan went on to give up zero goals on 22 shots. Nathan Corey (G, Sr.) was in net for Amherst.

Middlebury Panthers (10-8-2; 9-3-2) 3

It was over when..: Evan Neugold (F, Fr.) scored an unassisted goal to put the Panthers up 3-2 with 5:53 left in the third, just 1:19 seconds after the Bantams tied it on a short handed goal from Tim Shea (F, So.), who stuffed in a pass from Charlie Mullan (F, Jr.).
The loss breaks Trinity's five game winning streak and splits the season series 1-1, after Trinity beat Middlebury in early January despite being outshot 54-22. In this game, shots in favor of Middlebury 38-14, with Benjamin Coulthard (G, Jr.) having another solid effort in defeat. Dan Fullam (G, So.) got the start for the Panthers and improved to 4-1-0 on the year.
The Panthers led off the scoring about seven minutes after the opening face off, when last night's player of the game and Middlebury leading point scorer Derek Pimentel (F, So.) intercepted a pass and found an open Ben Wiggins (D, Jr.) for a power play goal. Trinity responded when Zachary Lombardi (F, Sr.) found Larry Bero (D, Jr.) for the equalizer mid-way through the first. Coincidentally, this is the first time in the nine games Lombardi has a point that the Bantams have lost. Mathieu Castonguay (D, Sr.) put Middlebury back on top 2-1 with 2:28 left to play in the first on his first goal since his freshman year.
Late in the first, Trinity got two 10 minute misconduct calls on Joe Horak (F, Fr.) and John Hawrigg (F, Fr.), as well as an unsportmanlike bench minor. It was a chippy game, with the NESCAC leaders in penalty minutes tallying 43 penalty minutes on 12 penalties. The Panthers went 1/9 on these power play opportunities while Trinity went 0/5 when they had the man advantage. The end of the game was marred by penalties, with three called on Trinity and one on Middlebury in the final 3:30 minutes. The Bantams' Bero got called for a boarding penalty with 15 seconds left, just six seconds after getting out of the box for his previous cross-checking penalty. Jordan So (F, Sr.) and Robbie Donahoe (D, Jr.) went at it as play expired, but the refs were able to quell the squable.
For the second day in a row, the Panthers wore their camouflage jerseys, which they gave away at the end of the game to the winners of the silent auction to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. In between periods, the Middlebury announcer interviewed Chris Brown (F, Sr.)' s father, who helped to coordinate the charity event, part of the Hockey Helpers Program. Before the third period, three veterans from the state of Vermont were honored. Next week, it is Trinity's turn to take part in the Hockey Helpers program.
Player of the game: Evan Neugold (F, Fr.) for his unassisted, game winning goal in the third.
