The Lowdown: Git-r-done
It's pretty simple for Bowdoin: win and you are the number one overall seed in the NESCAC playoffs. For Conn College, it's a bit more complicated. After a disappointing 2-1 loss to Colby yesterday in which they out shot the Mules and gave up a goal with 1:02 left to lose, Conn College no longer controls their own playoff destiny. What they do know, however, is that to have any chance of making the playoffs the Camels need to win today. When the teams first met in New London on December 8th, the Polar Bears mauled the Camels 7-1. For a preview of the whole weekend in Maine, check out Benet Pols' Pine Tree Preview. Key(s) to the game: Under Pressure
Both teams are under pressure, but in very different ways. Bowdoin would like to win and get first wrapped up, but the well coached Polar Bears will probably treat it like any other game and just execute their game plan. For Conn College, nobody expects them to win, so the Camels just need to go out there and - hackneyed sports colloquialism alert!- "put it all on the line."
Players to watch
Dawson Luke (D, Sr.) Might be last game for the Camels leading senior in points (7-8-15).
Daniel Weiniger (F, Sr.) Last regular season home game for the Polar Bears leading goal scorer (15-10-25); has eclipsed the 100 point mark for his career (55-57-112).
In honor of Conn College needing an unlikely victory over Bowdoin and help from other teams to make the playoffs, we present a live version of Bon Jovi's "Livin on a Prayer" (and yes, we know that Bon Jovi's daugher goes to a different NESCAC institution).
