Trinity's 2013-14 roster is finally up (and a preview...though the roster still isn't up on the official site) and it consists of 28 men (last year had 17). 20 veterans join eight newcomers (seven freshman, one transfer) on 2012-13 NESCAC Coach of the Year Mat Greason's gang. Two veterans did not return: Ford Traff (F, '16) and Michael Ciotti (D, '15). Ciotti grew-up playing youth hockey with Trinity's transfer from St.Anselm, forward Liam McKillop (F, '15), who figures to provide immediate offensive input for the Bantams.
Trinity only lost five seniors, but three of them comprised the "law firm" (according to Trinity webcast announcer) line of Jeff Mernard (F, '13), Chris Mernard (F '13) and Jordan So (F, '13), who combined for 65 points last year. The Bantams do return leading scorer Jackson Brewer (F, '15) who had an evenly distributed 24 points (12-12-24) last season and picked up NESCAC Player of the Week honors in February. Sophomore Mike Hawkrigg (F, '16) had a successful rookie campaign, scoring 18 points (9-9-18), including the game winning OT goal over rival Wesleyan in the NESCAC Quaterfinals as part of a three-point outing (2-1-3). He earned NESCAC Player of the Week for his troubles.
Junior defensman Michael Flynn (D, '15) will captain the team with hustle forward Will Gray (F, '14).
Of the seven freshman, five are forwards and two are defenseman. Up front, former Yale commit Ryan Cole (F, '17) (who produced Trinity's "pump up" video) joins his younger brother Brandon Cole (F, '17), prep school product Will Sleeper (F, '17) and a pair of Westminster teammates, Ethan Holdaway (F, '17) and Sean Orlando (F, '17). Juniors blueliners T. J. Sherman (D, '17) and Sam Johnson (D, '17) join senior Larry Bero (D, '14), Flynn and the rest of the Bantam defensive corps.
On the back end, First Team All-NESCAC goaltender Ben Coulthard (G, '14) returns for his senior year after posting a .935 save % and 2.28 Goals Against Average last season. Backup Nathan Heilbron (G, '16) was solid in his five appearances last season as well.
