Middelbury 1
Amherst 4
FINAL Box Score
1st Period: Cunningham in net for Amherst and senior Nick BonDurant, who gave up 0 goals in relief of Peters in the PrimeLink finals, gets the start for Middlebury. Topher Flannagan puts the Lord Jeffs up 1-0 4:19 in to the period, but gets booted from the game for boarding Terrence Goguen. at the 17:22 mark.
2nd Period: The Panthers can't capitalize on the five minute major or any of the other power play opportunities in the period. Amherst leads the shots on goal 13-11 through two.
3rd Period: Amherst's Brendan Burke puts the Lord Jeffs up 2 at 5:05. Burke extends the lead to 3-0 with his second goal before Middlebury gets on the board when Louis Belisle puts it in off an opportunity created by Robbie Donahoe to cut it to 3-1 at 17:09. Conor Brown gets his third empty net goal of the season to seal it 4-1.
Shots in favor of Middlebury 24-20 and the Panthers NESCAC leading power play only went 1/7. Amherst was 0-6 on the man advantage. The Lord Jeffs haven't been burned yet, thanks to the second best penalty kill in conference games (91.9%), but sooner or later they will if they continue to take as many penalties as they do (17.5 per game).
Williams 1
Hamilton 1
FINAL OT Box Score
1st Period: Quattrocchi in net for Hamilton, Dougherty for Williams. After penalties to Kenny Matheson and Scott Vazquez, Williams has a 5 on 3 for over a minute. The Ephs test Quattrocchi, but the senior netminder is up to the task and kills the PP. Late in the period, Hamilton goes on the PP, but nothing doing with their 1-1- configuration as Williams defenders plug lanes and block shots. Shots in favor of Williams 14-6.
2nd Period: Marko Brelih flips it in from the point and gets it in through traffic to put the Continentals up 1-0. Hamilton played much better in the second and cuts the Williams shot lead to 24-18. Hamilton has now taken the lead into the third period in the last four games. The Conts went 2-1 in the three previous games.
3rd Period: Williams ties it up on the power play when Ephs leading scorer Craig Kitto puts in a rebound (assists to Tyler Young and Paul Steinig) at 15:06 of the period. The Hamilton frat announcers filling in at the mic tonight did not realize their audio wasn't working for the first two periods. Welp. When they actually do get on the air, they aren't bad, offering some decent tidbits like coach Haberbusch's shuffling of lines tonight. They try to lay the humor on a little thick, however, but oh well. "Packed house, it's bursting at the seams" (Attendance was 117)
OT: Several good opportunities but no-one can beat either goaltender. With 1.9 seconds remaining and the faceoff in the Williams zone, Hamilton pulls Quattrorcchi for the extra attacker, and actually got a shot off. Hamilton hangs on despite giving up six power plays and being outshot by Williams 39-26.
Tufts 5
Colby 2
FINAL Box Score
1st Period: Parker in net for Colby, Kellenberger for Tufts. Colby scores 16:51 into the period when Ben Chwick beats Kellenberger to put the Mules up 1-0. Shots in favor of Tufts 11-9.
2nd Period: On the power play early in the period, freshman Conal Lynch scores to tie the game; assists to Stewart Bell and Tyler Voigt. The Jumbos go up later in the period on a goal by Voigt. After matching penalties at 19:17, Colby ties it up with only 32.5 seconds remaining on a controversial Jack Burton goal that Jumbos coach Brian Murphy is incredulous about. Shots in favor of Colby 16-9 in the period.
3rd Period: Tufts Blake Edwards puts the Jumbos up seven minutes into the final frame. Brian Ouellte pads the lead for the Jumbos a few minutes later. Tufts continues to pour it on with Voigt's second on the game with 4:09 to go.
Conn College 3
Bowdoin 2
FINAL OT Box Score
1st Period: Max Fenkell is back in net for the Polar Bears after missing two games, Tom Conlin for Conn College. Bowdoin takes the lead 17:57 into the period when Tim Coffey knocks home a rebound. Shots in favor of Bowdoin 12-10 for the period. Penalty plagued period with seven total infractions, three on Bowdoin, four on CC.
2nd Period: Matt Sullivan (assists to Danny Palumbo and Kendall Culbertson) puts Bowdoin up 2-0 but Conn College answers right back with a Mike Sinsigalli goal. Shots in favor of CC 24-23 after two. Both teams are 0/5 on the PP after two.
3rd Period: After a Ryan Collier elbowing call, Conn College Joe Gioradano ties it at 17:46.
OT: Keith Veronesi wins it for CC. The first win of the season for the Camels and the Polar Bears must be stunned. The offensive explosion in non-conference games didn't carry over and the once favorite team to twin the NESCAC sits at 1-3-1 in conference play. A bit of revenge for the Camels, who lost in overtime in Brunswick on an empty net goal (they needed to win to make the playoffs) in their final game of 2012-13.
