Non-Conference Roundup 12/5/13: Stonehill 2 Trinity 0

Stonehill Skyhawks (5-4-0)   2
Trinity Bantams (5-2-0)         0

It was over when...: Chris Tasiopoulos (G, '15) made 40 saves and the visiting Skyhawks upset Trinity for the Bantams first non-conference loss of the season. Trinity sophomore Nathaniel Heilbron (G, '16) stopped 30 of 32 Stonehill shots but dropped his first decision of the season to fall to 2-1-0.

The Skyhawks' Richard Harris (F, '16)  scored 4:47 into the second period on an assist from player to watch Robbie Dorgan (F, '16) in what proved to be the game winner. The Bantams pulled Heilbron with 57 seconds remaning, but to no avail. Anthony D'Elia (F, '16) put in an empty net goal with five seconds remaining to ice the game.

The Bantams were not without their chances. Their Northeast-10 opponent surrendered seven power plays in the game, but Trinity was not able to capitalize. The Skyhawks held a 28-18 shots advantage after two periods, but four Stonehill penalties and a desperate Bantams attack led to a 22-6 shots advantage for the home team in the final frame.

Trinity finishes the 2013 leg of the season with a trip to Stamford, CT to face Manhattanville of the ECAC-West. The Valiants have shut out both Tufts and Conn College in the last week.

Player of the game: Chris Tasiopoulos (G, '15) The junior from Norwell, Mass. made 40 saves to improve to 3-2-0 on the year. It's Tasiopoulos' second shutout of the season and the third of his career. Chris is the younger brother of Nik Tasiopoulos (F, '14), a Babson forward that transfered from Wesleyan. In his final season as a Cardinal in 2011-12, Nik led the NESCAC in scoring (19-15-34) and was named to the First Team All-NESCAC
