The Lowdown
Conn College made the NESCAC playoffs for the first time in five years thanks in large part to a 5-1-1 record down the stretch that transformed them from playoff after thoughts to this year's "I wouldn't want to face them in the playoffs" team. A look at the discrepancy between NESCAC rank in overall stats vs conference games tells the story of a tale of two seasons for the Camels. A good deal of the success can be attributed to the late emergence of solid goaltender from senior Mike Petchonka (G, '14) down the stretch.

Their host, Amherst, had one three game losing streak in the middle of the season, but otherwise a fairly strong season. In the first match-up of the season between these two, the Lord Jeffs handled the Camels, 4-2, in New London, CT.  At Orr Rink in February, the teams skated to a 1-1 tie.

This is the second time the teams will meet in the NESCAC playoffs and only the fourth Conn College NESCAC playoff game in school history. They are still looking for their first playoff win. In 2008, the fourth seed Lord Jeffs defeated the fifth seed Camels, 3-2, in OT.

Key (s) to the game
If the Camels want to pull off the upset, which USCHO NESCAC columnist Tim Costello thinks they will do, they will need to not fall behind to the stingy Amherst defense and goaltending of Dave Cunningham (G, '16). The Camels are only 1-8-1 when trailing after two periods.

Players to watch
JC Cangelosi (F, '15) For the Camels' offense, it is Cangelosi, then everyone else. The junior from Florida has 15 goals then the next highest scoring Camel has six. Conn will need Cangelosi to light the lamp if they want to be playing in Hartford next week.

Conor Brown (F, '16) The Lord Jeffs only double digit goal scorer (10) was out last time the Camels came to Amherst. Will his play prove to be the difference this time out?

Conn College's first playoff appearance in five years. Has the time come for their first ever NESCAC playoff victory. Bayside "Time Has Come"
