Out of Conference Finals: 11/25/14

Amherst (3-1-0; 2-1-0 NESCAC)    6
St. Mike's (3-3-1; 2-2-1 ECAC-E)     4
Box Score     Recap

The Lord Jeffs went 3/5 on the power play and senior Danny Vitale (G, '15) made 22 saves in his first collegiate victory and start. Connor Brown (F, '16) had two goals and freshman Keenan Hodgeson (F, '18) had three points (1-2-3) to end the day with the Lord Jeffs scoring leader (3-2-5). True to the Jeffs recent history of scoring by committee, 15 Amherst skaters have points on the season and no one has scored more than three goals. The Jeffs return home post-Turkey Day for games against Elmira and Nazareth this weekend.

Bowdoin (4-0-1; 3-0-1 NESCAC)   3
UNE (3-4-0; 2-3-0 ECAC-E)            0
Box Score     Recap

Max Fenkell (G, '15) - who had two shutouts in his two previous seasons as a Polar Bear - made 24 saves for his second shutout this season in three starts. Bowdoin stays undefeated on the season and improves to 7-0-0 all-time against the Nor'Easters. Connor Quinn (F, '15) put in his NESCAC leading seventh goal and John McGinnis (F, '15) had an assist for his NESCAC leading 12th point. Seniors Alec Root (D, '15) and Danny Palumbo (F, '15) each scored their first goals of the season.

It wasn't the most impressive 3-0 win by Bowdoin, but the UNE announcer was particularly homerish in his praise of UNE controlling the game in the first two periods. Bowdoin plays Wentworth and Salve Regina from the weak ECAC-Northeast this weekend in the annual Colby/Bowdoin Classic in Brunwick and Waterville.

Becker (1-7-0; 0-5-0 ECAC-Northeast)  0
Tufts (1-3-1; 0-3-1 NESCAC)                5
Box Score       Recap

Middlebury transfer Mason Pulde (G, '17) made 22 saves to earn his first collegiate victory and shutout.  The Jumbos outshout the Hawks 43-22 and all five goal scorers (Majowski, Bell, Lynch, Tackacsi-Nagy, Pugh) lit the lamp for the first time this season. For freshman Majowski and Tackacsi-Nagy, it was their first collegiate goal.Tufts avoids last year's ignominious fate of winning their first home game in the season finale. The Jumbos head to Vermont for their usual appearance at the Rutland Herald Invitational this weekend.

It wasn't exactly against stiff competition, but the boys from the 'Cac handled their bizness and got the conference off to a 3-0-0 start to the Out-of-Conference schedule. In honor, here's Iggy Pop's "The Undefeated" off his 1990 solo album, "Brick-by-Brick"
