The Lowdown: Hot and cold
Tufts started out the season relatively hot with a tie against Trinity and a win over Wesleyan. Since then (Nov. 17) they have yet to earn another point in seven subsequent conference games despite a 4-1-0 non-conference record. Their latest conference let down was a 5-2 loss last night to Trinity in a game that was tied 2-2 after two periods.

Wesleyan had a cold streak early in conference play, going 1-3-1 in a five game stretch. The last three games, however, have been a different story. The Cardinals beat previously undefeated Bowdoin, vanquished Colby and last night thrashed Conn College 7-2.

In their first match up on November 17th, the Jumbos out shot the Cardinals 34-25 and won 4-2 on the strength of a hat trick by Kyle Gallegos (F, Jr.).

Key(s) to the game: Connecticut Hold 'em
Tufts gave up 42 shots last night to Trinity and Wesleyan scored seven times. Also, while it didn't cost the Jumbos last night, they are the second most penalized team in the 'CAC (15.8 PIM/G) and Wesleyan was 2-3 on the power play last night. If the Jumbos want to give their Texas goaltender Brian Phillips (G, Jr.) or backup Derek Metcalfe (G, Fr.)any chance, they need to limit the penalties and shots.

Players to watch
Tufts- Kyle Gallegos (F, Jr.) is tied for the team lead in points (8-7-15) and had a hat trick last time against the Cardinals, but the Colorado native only has one point in his last four games. Can he get back on the stat sheet today?

Wesleyan - Jay Matthews (F, Fr.) has two goals this year: the last time out against Tufts and last night against Conn. College. Can he combined his past and recent success with a goal today?

And in honor of the two teams hot and cold streaks, here is the Sesame Street version (we are family friendly here at NESCAC Hockey) of Katy Perry (don't judge..)'s "Hot N Cold"
