Conference Roundup 11/24/13

Trinity Bantams (3-1-0; 3-1-0)                4
Hamilton Continentals (1-3-0; 1-3-0)         2
It was over when...: The Continentals, down 3-2, tried to pull goalie Joe Quattrocchi (G,'14) with about a minute left but Trinity gained the zone forcing his retreat. Ryan Cole (F, '17) beat Quattrocchi for the game sealer with 47 seconds remaining to cap off the Bantams three goal third period that started with them down 2-1 and ended with a 4-2 win.

Earlier in the period, Tim Shea (F, '15), from below the crease, found Ben Hjalmarsson (D, '16) to the left of the net for the stuff in at 2:41 for the tie. After slopping Hamilton passing in the offensive zone on the power play, Trinity's Will Gray (F, '14) intercepted a pass and sent it to freshman Sean Orlando (F, '17) for a  breakaway, short-handed, game winning goal. It was Orlando's second goal of the game and third of the weekend (he was the only Bantam to score against Amherst). The prep school product from Ivyland, PA scored the first goal of the game in the second period on a Cole assist.

Hamilton's goals both came in the second period. Continental  freshman Robbie Murden (F, '17) tied it at one after he followed up his own shot for a rebound goal with 8:52 remaining. Following a five power play goal night against Wesleyan, Hamilton then added a power play goal with 3:30 remaining to take the lead. On a 4-4, the ref raised his hand for a Hjalmarsson roughing call. In order to maximize the amount of time they would have a power play once the four on four ended, the Conts were able to pass around the puck for about forty seconds before a Bantam touched the puck. On the ensuing power play, Kenny Matheson (F, '16)passed across the crease to Mike DImare (F, '14) for his fourth goal of the season.

The Bantams improved on the ten power plays they gave to Amherst the night before, surrendering  five to Hamilton, of which the Conts scored 1. Trinity was 1/3 on PPs of their own. Ben Coulthard (G, '14) had 29 saves for the win while Quattrocchi made 15 saves in the loss.

Player of the game: Sean Orlando (F, '17) Orlando scored two goals (2-0-2), including the short-handed game winner. Orlando had three of the five Bantams goals on the weekend.
