News and Notes: 1/14/13

NESCAC Official Weekly Release
You can find the league's official weekly release here.  Keith Buehler (F, Jr.) from Wesleyan was selected as the player of the week for his outstanding six point performance (3-3-6) in a win against previously undefeated Bowdoin.  This pick was as much of a lock as Daniel Day-Lewis will be for the Academy Award for Best Actor  for his potrayal of Abraham Lincoln in Lincoln .

National Poll
In the latest edition of the USCHO.com national poll, defending champion St. Norbert reclaims the top spot  for the first time since the first D-III poll was released at the end of October, prior to the start of NESCAC play. Previous #1 Norwich defeated rival Middlebury early in the week, but lost to Babson over the weekend. Now #14 Babson plays Williams on Tuesday.

As far as NESCAC schools go, Bowdoin holds at #4, despite its first loss of the season. After its 1-0-1 weekend, Amherst fell one spot to #10, swapping spots with Plattsburgh, who took care of Middlebury and Williams over the weekend. Williams moved up one spot to #12 after a 1-1-0 non-conference schedule.

Check back tomorrow for previews for all four non-conference games, including a match-up of nationally ranked Babson (14) and Williams (12).  The poll results will be up for "most surprising" team as well as a brand new poll.
