USCHO Hamilton feature: Continentals playing it fast and hard

In this week's USCHO feature, Tim Costello talks to Hamilton coach Rob Haberbusch (pictured) about the home stretch for the battered Continentals, who currently sit in the eighth and final NESCAC playoff spot.  “Our biggest challenge to overcome has been the number of injuries.”  The Conts have lost 75 man games to injury this season, including 2011-2012 leading scorer Mike Dimare (F, Jr.), who played through the pain of a wrist injury, only to be sidelined for the year by an ankle injury.

As far as the playoffs go? “We control our own destiny.”   Hamilton isn't looking past any opponents and is taking it one game at a time. For a team that struggles to put the puck in the net, the Continentals have already played in a simulated playoff atmosphere as evidenced by their disproportionate number of OT and one goal games. In terms of tinkering with the system, Haberbusch says they will do some adjustments as needed, "but at the end of the day, this team needs to stay true to our core values of how we play, and if we do that and compete hard, we will be in position to win some hockey games."

Charity
Last weekend Middlebury, Connecticut College and Tufts all hosted charity games.  Connecticut College had their second annual game for the "Green Dot" program, a campus initiative to prevent power-based personal violence through bystander intervention. As had been previously mentioned, Middlebury hosted their Wounded Warrior weekend and Tufts had their White Ribbon campaign to raise money and awareness for sexual assault prevention and education. This weekend  Mother nature permitting, the Trinity game for the  Wounded Warrior Project , as part of the Hockey Helpers Program, will take place this Sunday at 1 PM against Colby (originally scheduled for Friday night). The team will wear camouflage jerseys (pictured), sell merchandise and run raffles, with all proceeds going to benefit the WWP. For more information, see Trinity's coverage.
